It has a wide variety of microclimates, giving us the ability to create unique wines. We work with fruit from Malibu, to the High Desert of Los Angeles and the Highland Valley, to Palomar Mountain in San Diego County. The wines made from each of these vineyards could not be any different. It’s an exciting time to be making wine in Southern California. This is a region that thrived pre-prohibition and there is an exciting movement underway to bring it back better than ever before.
This vineyard encompasses 3 acres planted exclusively to Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. The Petite Sirah is a real star. Situated in the Ramona AVA in San Diego County, this vineyard is one of the jewels of Southern California. The unique rock formations that dot the property are breathtaking. The days are long and hot and the nights are cool. This helps retain acidity and produces complexity.
This vineyard encompasses 25 acres planted. We currently work with the Nebbiolo. Situated in Dulzura in San Diego County, this vineyard is incredible.
This 15 acre vineyard is planted primarily to Southern Italian Varietals. They thrive in the area around the San Jacinto Mountains. The Aglianico and Fiano are exceptional. Bill Shinkle, a former botanist, he treats these vines like his children. We jumped when we had the opportunity to work with the Aglianico that he grows. After a 3 hour tour of the vineyard, discussing his farming practices, and tasting his wines, we were sold.
This vineyard is 7 years old and is planted to 3 acres of Syrah, Petite Sirah and Sangiovese. This site produces incredible Syrah. With age this vineyard has the chance to be truly special. It overlooks the beautiful foothills of the Highland Valley.
This vineyard encompasses 12 acres planted to a handful of red varietals that thrive in this high elevation area of Los Angeles County. Situated in Antelope Acres in The High Desert of Los Angeles, this vineyard produces a velvety Merlot that we just adore. These vines struggle in their sandy soils.
It encompasses over 100 acres planted to a handful of red and white varietals. The vineyard team is constantly experimenting with which varietals work best for this site. A relatively new vineyard, planted in 2011 at 2,400 feet in decomposed granite soils on the north slope of Palomar Mountain in San Diego County. The Cabernet Franc from this site is light and spicy and the Syrah is savory and complex.
